Buffalo Traffic Jam - Take Me Home EP 12" (Black)
Buffalo Traffic Jam's Take Me Home EP, is an emotionally and musically rich project capturing an intense couple of years that saw the boys coming of age and becoming rising stars at the same time. The EP is both heavy and hopeful — hitting like a storm tearing across rain-starved plains.
As the EP’s opening song, “Take Me Home” sets a powerful tone. Singer/songwriter Frankie Cassidy drops us into his mindset over strummed acoustic guitar: “I’ve been staring at the fire for a long time, thinking about all the time that has gone by / You know this ain’t the way, no, it’s a disguise / I’m afraid I’ll be alone tonight.” As the track blooms to include mandolin, harmonica, and piano, we sense that our host is lost in the wilds of his feelings, needing to find his way back to something familiar. “Oh take me home, ’cause I’m not safe on my own,” he confesses.
Frankie shared a note to accompany the release of the Take Me Home EP:
“The last two years have been the craziest, yet most rewarding and fulfilling of my life. From running away from all my problems to Scotland on to graduating college I’ve learned so much about myself. What I didn’t know, until now, is that I was writing Buffalo Traffic Jam’s debut EP throughout all of it. During these years I met a lot of new faces but at the same time lost contact with others who meant the world to me. From writing some of these songs in Montana at 2 a.m. to sitting down with Nathan to record, we dived into these things and made light out of them through music. I hadn’t realized this until I sat down to create the track order for Take Me Home. It was then that it dawned on me that these six songs perfectly describe my life recently. I am a firm believer that music should be the truest form of an artist's expression. Therefore the songs are ordered in a way that tells a story. Specifically, it tells a story of a broken man. I still have not found complete peace throughout all of this, which is why the last track is ‘Comfort in Misery.’ There seems to still be a sense of comfort in this storm, and we are so thrilled and happy to share this body of work. Listen to it, roll your windows down, scream the lyrics, cry the lyrics, find peace and comfort in your storm. We sincerely hope you can enjoy Take Me Home.”
The EP also features “Fool’s Gold,” a driving tune that finds Frankie in a bad way, chasing cheap relief amid rising cello and crashing guitar as well as the gorgeous and deeply cathartic “Comfort In Misery," a song about the ruts we fall into when we’re in need of some healing.
